The structure features seven stone towers, which represent the seven Magyar chieftains who led the Hungarian tribes to the Carpathian Basin in 895 AD. Unlike actual fortresses, Fisherman’s Bastion is a neo-Romanesque terrace built between 1895 and 1902 strictly for decorative purposes and to provide the best panoramic views of the city. It offers one of the best panoramic views over the Danube River and the Hungarian Parliament.
