Crown of Stars

A statue of the Virgin Mary with a halo of twelve stars and a crescent moon at her feet is a stunning example of Baroque artistry against a summer sky.  The common Catholic image inspired by the “woman clothed with the sun” from the Book of Revelation. The drapery of the stone is just masterful. The statue depicts the "Immaculate Conception" motif. The figure stands on a crescent moon and a serpent (symbolizing the defeat of sin) and is crowned with a halo of 12 stars.  The lily in her hand is a traditional symbol of purity.
