The exterior is clad in Sivec marble from Macedonia and Lasa marble from Italy, chosen specifically for their pure white color which reflects the sun during the day and the moon at night. The mosque has a unique lighting system synchronized with the moon phases—the lighting becomes darker and bluer as the moon wanes.
